Following a hike in the San Gabriel Mountains to the north of Los Angeles, California, actor Julian Sands from the United Kingdom has gone missing. Whether he is living or dead has not been confirmed.
On January 13, during poor weather in the mountains, he vanished in the Baldy Bowl region.
Due to avalanche concerns, ground rescue crews gave up their search, but they kept utilizing drones and helicopters.
When the environment was safe for rescue teams, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s office said they will resume the search.
President Joe Biden declared a disaster as a result of weeks of catastrophic storms that tore through California.
The Sheriff’s office reported that over the previous month, it had responded to 14 calls on and near Mount San Antonio, also known as Mount Baldy. Hikers were advised to “stay away” from that region.
According to the department, even seasoned hikers are having problems since the terrain is so treacherous.
A mother of four who was an accomplished hiker, according to her friends, died last week after falling more than 500 feet from Mount Baldy.
Authorities were also looking for a hiker from the United States who had vanished in the same mountains.
Friends of Mr. Sands have voiced worry over his disappearance.
