Due to health concerns, Justin Bieber has canceled the remainder of his Justice international tour. The 29-year-old musician had repeatedly postponed the tour, informing fans last summer that he was suffering from facial paralysis due to a diagnosis of Ramsay Hunt syndrome (RHS).

In September 2022, he stated that his health will be a top priority.

Tuesday, the official Twitter feed for the tour announced that ticket holders would be automatically refunded.

The Canadian was scheduled to perform across the United States, Australia, and Europe, including a Saturday concert in Manchester (4 March).

Yet, some of his followers have previously expressed their disappointment at not receiving compensation for postponed tour dates, which reportedly grossed $55 million (£46 million).

There is yet no official explanation for the cancellation.

Fan response

Cade Harper, 23, from Aberdeen, who received tickets to the concert in November 2021 as a Christmas gift from a relative, told BBC News,

“I’m upset he’s canceled, but his health comes first and I completely understand.”

“I wish he hadn’t stated that it was merely postponed. This would have been my second time seeing him, as I had previously seen him on the Purpose tour in Glasgow, so I was eager to see him in my hometown of Aberdeen.”

In 2019, Justin Bieber took a complete hiatus from music to focus on his mental health.

In 2021, the Grammy-winning artist’s latest album starring Burna Boy, Chance the Rapper, and Khalid debuted at number one in the United States and number two in the United Kingdom.

However, he stated that following performances throughout Europe had “really worn me down” and that he needed more time to “relax and get well.”

How is Ramsay Hunt syndrome defined?

RHS occurs when an episode of chickenpox hits the facial nerve around the ears, leading to partial facial paralysis.

It cannot be transmitted from person to person, although it is a consequence of shingles, which is related to the chickenpox virus that many youngsters contract.

According to the Facial Palsy UK charity, if the immune system gets depressed and less able to fight off infection, the body becomes susceptible to a reactivation of the chickenpox virus.

It is stated that stress is often a trigger since it can impair the immune system, and stressed individuals are more susceptible to contracting infections.
