The premiere date of the show has not yet been confirmed, but the two hosts, Karen E Laine and Mina Starsiak have already made headlines for using lead-based paints that are prohibited by law.
HGTV will bring back the popular mother-daughter duo from their long-running series Good Bones for its ninth season.
In addition, the mother-daughter duo acknowledged their error and will pay the US Environmental Protection Agency a $40,000 fine. Good Bones consists of a pair.
Karen E. Laine and Mina Stariak, a mother-daughter duo. In their hometown of Indianapolis, the remodeling specialists were captured working on dilapidated structures. Over the season, these constructions are redesigned, rebuilt, and restored.
According to the official plot summary of the show:
“Mother-daughter duo Karen E. Laine and Mina Starsiak are on a quest to revitalize Indianapolis one property at a time. They are buying dilapidated properties and transforming them into stunning urban renovations.”
It continues:
“With Mina’s real estate knowledge and Karen’s no-nonsense legal experience, these women are unstoppable when it comes to acquiring the land they desire and mobilizing their family for demolition and construction. When it comes to exciting new houses in the city of Indianapolis, it all comes down to the women of Good Bones.”
Before settling on house restoration, the mother and daughter of Good Bones worked in a variety of industries.
58-year-old Karen E. Laine was a full-time attorney. She received her law degree from the Robert H. McKinney School of Law at Indiana University.
After graduating, she worked as a defense attorney. She began her legal career at Cohen & Malad in 1990 as an associate attorney. She subsequently served as an Assistant Prosecutor at the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
Afterward, she obtained criminal defense, family law, mediation, and guardian ad litem services from Jensen Law. Nonetheless, Laine is currently practicing law on a part-time basis.
Also, she is the mother of four children. With her first marriage, she has three children: Mina, William, and CR. Kelsey and Randy, her current husband, have a fourth kid.
Mina’s daughter, Mina Starsiak Hawk, is a mother, a novelist, a company owner, and a wife. After graduating from Indiana University, she was unsure about what she wanted to do. So, she began working as a waitress.
Nevertheless, when she bought an old property for $37,500, the 31-year-old enlisted her mother’s help in restoring it. That’s when she realized she had a natural ability for building houses.
They subsequently established their own company, Two Babes And A Hammer. In June 2016, Mina married Steve, whom she met on Facebook. The couple’s first child, Jack Richard Hawk, was born in 2018, and their second child, Charlotte, is due in September 2020.
Due to her mother’s desire to be with her husband, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2019, Mina will play a key role in the next musical.
