Katherine did not address getting married or starting a family in her 2023 interview with The Press & Journal. Grainger has talked about searching for the right mate, but it appears that she has discovered contentment on her own. After retiring from competition, five-time Olympic champion Grainger has volunteered for numerous charities.
Born and reared in Scotland is Katherine. She is currently the Chancellor of the University of Glasgow, having previously held the position at Oxford Brookes University. Grainger gained notoriety the previous year when she carried the Elizabeth Sword to Edinburgh for the King Charles III and Queen Camilla celebrations.

British rower Katherine Grainger is single and not married. The five-time Olympian has dedicated her entire professional career to the sport. On her social media sites, the legendary rower has only published a small number of posts. Her sporting achievements take up most of her postings. In an earlier post, she included a toddler, who turned out to be her nephew.
In 1993, Grainger began rowing at the University of Edinburgh. She spoke for the St. Andrew Boat Club of Edinburgh. She competed in her first Olympics in Sydney in 2000. Along with her three teammates, she won a silver medal in the women’s quadruple sculls. In her subsequent two Olympic games, in Beijing and Athens, Katherine took home silver medals.
At the London 2012 Summer Olympics, Katherine broke the curse. In the double sculls, she and Anna Watkins took home their first gold medals. During her final Olympics, in Rio in 2016, Katherine and Vicky Thornley won a silver medal in the double sculls.
Dame Katherine Garinger is the proud owner of eight world championship medals. Her final one came at the 2011 Bled World Championship. The other two were gold. The previous two were bronze and silver. In a recent interview, Katherine was asked if her mother would be happy if she found a guy by the Financial Times.
Katherine said, “If you have one available, please let me know; I’m still looking.” My entire life has been devoted to rowing. I’ve always made the decision to share the house with someone, and I never regret it.
Katherine Grainger’s Life Outside of Sports
The fact that Katherine holds a Ph.D. in criminal law from three different universities may only be known to a small number of her supporters. Katherine discussed her love of mystery books in an interview with The Press & Journal. Grainger said she likes crime fiction in both print and motion pictures.
She said that in order to distract herself from their races at the London Olympics, she and Anna Watkins would binge-watch episodes of The Killing. She said that she still enjoys the theater and that she still reads and watches crime as a form of relaxation. At the moment, Katherine is UK Sport’s Chair. She was first appointed in 2017 for a term of four years, and then again in 2021 for a further four years.
