She has now signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and will make her professional debut against Holly Holm. Kayla, who was born in Middletown, Ohio, began practicing judo at the age of six, after being introduced to the sport by her black-belted mother.
She competed in judo in the 78 kg (172 lb) weight class, winning the 2010 World Judo Championships, gold medals at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, and Pan American Games titles in 2011 and 2015. Following her performance in the 2016 Olympics, she transitioned to mixed martial arts and became the former Professional Fighters League lightweight champion.

According to a 2012 CNBC story, Kayla Harrison was engaged to Aaron Handy, a firefighter and Judo black belt. Kayla Harrison supposedly broke up with Aaron Handy and started dating professional mixed martial artist Anthony Rocco Martin. There has been no evidence that Kayla Harrison is still in a relationship with Anthony Martin. However, the couple confirmed to being together in a 2019 interview. Kayla is now more concerned with her profession and children, preferring to keep her relationship status discreet.
Kayla Harrison Adopted Her Niece and Nephew
Kayla’s stepfather died unexpectedly in 2020, which devastated her family. Kyla and Emery were under her stepfather’s custody. Later, she decided to adopt and care for her niece Kyla and nephew Emery. As a result, Kayla Harrison was granted complete custody of the children and is happy to be their mother. Furthermore, she frequently shows in her Instagram photos that she enjoys fun and travels with her kids.
