Ken Block is a well-known rally driver and extreme sports pioneer. Block perished in a horrific snowmobile accident on January 2, 2023, known for his high-octane exploits and precision driving talents.

According to the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, Block was killed instantly after being crushed by his snowmobile in an accident.

Block was traveling on a steep hill in the Mill Hollow region west of Woodland, Utah, when his snowmobile “upended, falling on top of him,” according to officials. When the incident occurred, Block was traveling with a group but was alone. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On Tuesday (AEDT), the Hooligan Racing Division reported Block’s death in Utah. Block had just returned from a family ski holiday, which he had documented on Instagram.

Block, who was born in 1967 in Long Beach, California, was introduced to motorsports at a young age and rapidly acquired a love of racing. He began his career in rallycross and gymkhana competitions before becoming a full-time professional rally driver in 2009.

Block was an entrepreneur and co-founder of Hoonigan Industries, a clothing and lifestyle business for motorsports aficionados, in addition to his racing career.

Block’s unexpected death has shocked the motorsports community, and the news has grieved his friends and admirers. All who knew him will miss him greatly, and his contribution to extreme sports will not be forgotten.

His family and wife were devastated by his death because he had just returned from a family holiday in the snow, where he had uploaded family photos on Instagram.

He married Lucy Block in July 2004. They have three children between them. He previously married writer Tracy Montgomery in 1999. He finished third in the X Games XIV rally competition, tied with Dave Mirra.

He posted, “Merry Christmas from the Blocks, from Baldface Lodge!” just five days before Christmas.

“From the magnificent snow to the incredible hospitality of Jeff Pensiero and his family, to watching Jamie Lynn scale the rafters to place the star on the tree, to watching my kids grow stronger and better at shredding, it was an incredible Christmas vacation.”

Just hours before his death, he advertised the final episode of a series documenting Lia’s restoration of a 1985 Audi Quattro.

Block has been seen riding snowmobiles in Idaho in previous posts. He wrote on his Facebook page, “It was my first day on my new 2023 Ski-Doo Summit X Turbo, and this thing rips!” “Lots of power up in the mountains, and all day wheelies.”
