A well-known LGBTQ+ activist in Philadelphia was arrested on Monday after it was alleged by the authorities that she had abused two young boys.

Steven Kendall The internet is awash with news of arrests. There are accusations against 37-year-old Kendall Stephens from the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General.

Sources claim that Stephens molested two boys who were younger than thirteen. The details of the inquiry have not been disclosed to the public.

Rape, indecent assault against a person under the age of 13, illegal contact involving minor sexual crimes, and endangering the welfare of children—parent or guardian—are some of the claims that have been made.

The judge put her bail at $250,000. Her next court hearing is December 29.

The AG’s office will sometimes take over the cases of the local district attorneys when there is a disagreement in the case.

In a statement sent to Action News, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office said, “We have no comment as the investigation into the allegations against her is being led by another agency.”

Update on Kendall Stevens’ Rape Case

The well-known supporter of LGBTQ+ rights made an appearance on Action News in August 2020, after an incident in her Point Breeze neighborhood.

She says that a violent group has targeted her because she is a transsexual woman.

After that, Stephens became well-known as a champion for the LGBTQ+ community, pushing lawmakers to include protections for LGBTQ+ people in Pennsylvania’s hate crimes statute.

Action News was there in 2021 when Stephens and a few other activists supported District Attorney Larry Krasner in his efforts to establish the LGBTQ+ Advisory Board.

Among other things, the board was set up to help victims and survivors of crime in the community.

A Few Specifics Regarding Kendall Stevens’ Personal Life

In the few months it will take Stevens to get her associate degree in mental health/human services, she is balancing a demanding schedule of community service and coursework.

She serves on the advisory boards of many organizations, including the LGBTQ Center at CCP, the Mazzoni LGBTQ Health Center, and the William Way LGBTQ Community Center.

Since 2015, Stevens has co-facilitated TransWay, a weekly support group at William Way for those who identify as transgender or gender nonconforming.

Stephens received the organization’s New Emerging Leader Award in October of last year.

She runs support groups and assists with yoga classes as an intern at Morris Home, a treatment facility for transgender and gender-nonconforming addicts located in Southwest Philadelphia.
