In all, Stephen has eleven siblings. Three were adopted from his mother, Rita’s prior relationship, and two from Bob’s earlier connections.

His father belonged to the Rastafari religion, which originated in Jamaica in the 1930s and was founded on a specific interpretation of the Bible. Rastafarians supported the legalization of marijuana, and Stephen Marley is a vocal advocate of the cannabis business. He founded the private cannabis business Kaya Farms. He also serves on the board of directors of the medical marijuana startup Med-X.
