The clash was previously married to Genia Clash in 1986, and the marriage lasted over 17 years. He had no children from his previous relationship.
The pair had good times throughout those 17 years, but it wasn’t something Clash could truly commit to; the marriage wasn’t something he was thrilled about.
They met while his ex-wife was studying to be a nurse. Kevin was making puppets in her college dorm’s bathroom at the time. The undergraduate romance blossomed into a lifetime commitment, but the two had no idea that commitment came with obligations and constraints.
Kevin had to live two lives. He kept his reality hidden since he needed to maintain his marriage. But the two Kevins were diametrically opposed. Kevin suffered a lot with his sexuality because he was married to a woman.

During an interview with The Daily Beast, the Emmy-winning puppeteer spoke up about his marital issues three years after his divorce. Clash is now an openly gay guy who came out publicly about his homosexuality in 2012 while facing a slew of minor sex accusations.
The actor then made this potentially controversial statement. He told the public the truth about his sexuality, saying, “I identify as a gay guy.
I’ve never been ashamed of it or sought to hide it because I considered it a personal and private concern.”
Five men filed a complaint against him, alleging that he engaged in underage sexual activities, but both the lawyers and Clash disputed the charges. After the charges surfaced in the media, he was suspended from ‘Sesame Street,’ and he resigned from the show.
He took a hiatus in 2012 and returned in 2019 for ‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.’ He played Uncle Traveling Matt (puppeteer) in ‘Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock’ in 2022. The puppeteer is back in the game after a lengthy absence, doing what he does best.
