Kevin began playing basketball at an early age, and on September 7, 2015, he committed to play for Maryland and was rated as a four-star recruit. Later, as a freshman in his starting role, he averaged 9.3 points per game and boosted his output to 14.8 points per game with an average of 5 rebounds per game. During the 2017 season, he was given honorable mention All-Big Ten.
Kevin’s professional career began when he was chosen in the NBA Draft in 2018. He trained with the Los Angeles Lakers and recruited an agent to assist him to stay in the draft. On May 30, 2018, he was drafted in the NBA as the 19th overall choice by the Atlanta Hawks. Kevin made his NBA debut by scoring 22 points in a loss to the Indiana Pacers in his first game, and then he set a season-high with 29 points against the Philadelphia 76ers in his second game. After being named to the All-Rookie Second Team following the 2018-2019 season, he was unable to play the next season because of the pandemic.
