In a terrible development, Kevin’s father, Larry, died in December 2023. During this tough period, the entire NHL and athletic world came together to support little Kevin. The Chicago Blackhawks flew in a chartered jet to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to attend Larry’s funeral.
Kevin was allowed leave from the Blackhawks’ training camp to address a family issue. “It was a sad day for everyone involved, but I thought it was fantastic that our schedule allowed us to be there to support Kevin and his family,” coach Luke Richardson stated on Saturday.
