A new episode of Welcome to Plathville aired on Tuesday night. Everything has gone wrong in the Plath family as everyone has tried to deal with their parent’s divorce in their own individual way. Meanwhile, for the first time, Kim revealed to Micah why she had been so protective of her children. Everything came down to a horrible incident in her past.
In episode 9 of Welcome to Plathville, Micah and Kim went out for a drink. During a serious conversation, Micah inquired about his mother’s parenting style. They were raised on a farm secluded from humans, were homeschooled, and were religious.
However, neither he nor anyone else expected Kim’s answer to Micah. Though it was difficult for the Welcome to Plathville actress to disclose her horrific past, she realized it was time to stop hiding from her child. She admitted to being overly protective of her children and raising them in the manner she did since she was mistreated as a child.
Kim reveals this in Welcome to Plathville episode 9 of Season 4
Despite what they had been warned, Micah and Kim went out for cocktails. During a discussion about Kim’s reasons for leaving her marriage with Barry, Micah questioned his mother about why she raised her children the way she did.
Kim was apprehensive to open up to Micah, but she chose to respond to him in the end. She stated that there were numerous causes, the most important of which was that she had been mistreated by her babysitter when she was just 4 or 5 years old.
Kim described her mother as a single mother who did her best. She hired a teen to be her babysitter. Kim continued, “
“I can only say that when you have young daughters, the last thing you want is for them to be in the wrong location at the wrong time and have something horrible happen to them.”
Kim went on to say that this happened all the time when she was a kid. She went on to say that statistics show that those who are close to family members and are not suspected are the ones who end up doing something like this.
Micah was surprised by his mother’s revelation, but he recognized where it was coming from. Continuing, the Welcome to Plathville star stated that she was always aware of where her children were, who they were with, and what they were doing.
“That played a significant influence in my being protective, perhaps overprotective, but the danger of not being sufficiently protective is so great to me that I’d rather err on the side of overprotection than under protection and have something like that happen.”
Micah was surprised by Kim’s admission and stated that he had assumed they were brought up solely for religious reasons. Kim stated that she did not want to inform anyone because they were too little at the time.
The actor from Welcome to Plathville concurred with his mother, saying that when he was about 18 years old, he suspected there was another reason but didn’t expect it to be this.
Micah continued, saying that while he was devastated to learn what had happened to his mother, he was pleased she had confided in him.
Micah continued, saying that as a child, he knew very little about his parents’ childhood. He also stated that as a child, he thought they were perfect.
But after hearing his mother’s words, all the puzzle pieces fell into place, and he realized that everyone is just a human being. Welcome to Plathville Season 4 breaths of air every Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on TLC. Readers can find more information in their local phone books.
