On July 20, nearly a year after being engaged in the scandal, Hometown Cha Cha Cha star Kim Seon-ho personally apologized to his followers. At the press conference for his play Touching the Void, the actor apologized sincerely and compassionately to his followers. He began his apology by stating why he believed his action was appropriate:
“I believed that was the proper course of action, so I went out first. I anticipated speaking incoherently due to my fear, so I wrote this down. With hearts wide open, I hope you can understand.”
In addition, the press conference marks his first official public appearance since the incident. In October 2021, shortly after the season finale of Hometown Cha Cha Cha, an anonymous internet user claiming to be the actor’s ex-partner claimed on a Korean online forum that Kim Seon-ho forced her to have an abortion.
The lengthy controversy was finally resolved when the Korean news service Dispatch disputed some of the former assertions.
To the dismay of his supporters, the actor from Start-Up chose to disappear from public life after the film’s successful end, saying farewell to numerous projects. He has only recently begun accepting new projects, with the play Touching the Void is the most recent.

Instead of appearing on television, the actor will next be seen on stage in the drama Touching the Void. Based on the 1988 book of the same name by climber Joe Simpson, writer David Greig adapted the subject into a British drama.
In the Korean stage adaptation, Kim Seon-ho will portray Joe Simpson, a climber stranded on a snowy mountain after a horrific accident. The show will run from July 8 to September 18 in theaters.
