Kit Wright was born in England on June 17, 1944. Award-winning British children’s writer and poet. His best-known works include Short Afternoons, The Bear Looked Over the Mountain and Hoping It Might Be So: Poems 1974-2000. His 1978 collection, Rabbiting On and Other Poems contained illustrations by author/artist Posy Simmonds. After graduating from Oxford University, he taught in Canada. His early work, The Bear Looked Over the Mountain (published in 1977), won both the Alice Hunt Bartlett Prize and the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize.
