How did Konnie Huq start her Professional Career?
Konnie began her career as a journalist for the children’s show Newsround. Before the 1992 general election, she spoke with Labor pioneer Neil Kinnock. She was a Blockbuster hopeful that same year.
Huq made her introducing debut in “Backpedal on Everything That Was Said,” a youngsters’ test show. From 1994 to 1996, she hosted the show. She launched Channel 5’s show Milkshake in 1997 and was also a publication partner for Total Sports Magazine.
The BBC hired her in December 1997 to host the children’s television show, Blue Peter. As part of the show, she traveled to Bangladesh and spoke with her extended family. She also traveled to India, Angola, Japan, and other countries in addition to Bangladesh.
During the show, she also set a Guinness World Record by sticking 17 Blue Peter identifications onto co-moderator Andy Akinwolere’s shirt in one second.
On May 31, 2007, Konnie announced her departure from the show after more than ten years of service. On January 22, 2008, she debuted her final Blue Peter show. Konnie debuted The Xtra Factor’s seventh season in 2010, replacing Holly Willoughby, who had been endorsed to appear on The Morning. The show aired on ITV2.
