The teenager committed himself a few weeks after Radio Szczecin, a station affiliated with the state-run Polskie Radio network, aired a report about a convicted child molester that contained details about the victims, allowing the public to swiftly identify Filiks. In a December article, the radio disclosed the ages of the minors as well as the information that one of them was the kid of a local MP.
It further alleged that the convicted guy was an LGBT activist and former Civic Platform member whose trial in 2021 was held in secret in order to protect his victims. According to opposition supporters, the national-conservative Law & Justice (PiS) Party is at least largely to blame for the death, and that the tale, which has been heavily covered by other state media, was staged for political advantage.
There is presently a political movement in the country that claims that disclosing this information would have exacerbated the conditions that led to Filiks’ son’s death.
