Lake Bell Stated That The Perspective Of Marriage Changed After The Divorce With Scott Campbell

Lake Bell

The actress Lake Bell and writer have recently made headlines for her growing relationship with comedian Chris Rock. They had been dating for nearly a month at this point. Her public appearance raises many questions about her love life, particularly her relationship with her ex-husband and children prior to Rock.

Bell and her husband were married for nearly seven years. Bell learned a lot about marriage and relationships from her ruminations about getting married and divorced.

Lake Bell’s Ex-Husband and Children’s Relationship

Bell met her husband, tattoo artist Scott Campbell, on the set of How to Make It in America in 2011. She was getting ready for a part of the program in which she would be tattooed. Campbell, who appeared in the episode, tattooed her around 6 a.m. He walked in and immediately drew her attention.

They hit it off right away and got engaged on March 24, 2012, her birthday. On June 1, 2013, they married at The Marigny Opera House in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was their first marriage, and they took their time settling down and starting a family. Nova, their first child, was born in October 2014. Ozgood (tzi for short and not named after Ozzy Osbourne) was their second child, born in May 2017.

For a time, the actress’s life was complicated by the fact that her daughter has epilepsy. She made it through, thanks to Campbell’s unwavering support. “My spouse is a fantastic parent,” she told Baby Center (via E! Online) a few months before they divorced.

Campbell, too, was determined to be the best husband and father he could be in order to protect his family. “I want to be the best husband and father I can for her so she doesn’t grow up dating jerks. “I never make her feel small.” He told Fatherly magazine in 2019

They held it together… until they couldn’t. On October 22, 2020, they announced their separation on their individual Instagram accounts. In their announcements, they expressed similar emotions, promising to be the best parents they could be and to always prioritize their children. They also intended to remain best friends following their divorce.

Lake Bell’s Marriage Attitude Has Shifted

In June 2018, Bell told the Independent that she grew up “surrounded by divorce my entire life.” As a result, she developed a “cynical” view of marriage and saw it as an antiquated institution. “‘Until death do us part?’ Are you kidding?” she exclaimed. When she met Campbell, everything changed.

So, throughout their relationship, she researched the complexities of marriages, including her own. In 2017, she turned her years of experience into a script titled I Do… Until I Don’t. I Do… Until I Don’t, a critically acclaimed film, depicts her development over time. She was interested in how relationships evolve over time, not just on the couple’s wedding day.
