On May 9, 1975, Lane Kiffin was born. His father, Monte Kiffin, was the defensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the National Football League. Chris, his brother, is the Cleveland Browns’ defensive line coach. In 1994, Lane was a student at Minnesota’s Bloomington Jefferson High School and a Fresno State University football player. He worked as a student assistant coach under coach Jeff Tedford from 1994 to 1998 as a result of his stint as a quarterback for the Fresno State Bulldogs.

Is Lane Kiffin Married? Relationship
Lane and his wife were once regarded as the ideal couple, but a bad turn of events prevented their marriage from lasting longer than ten years. In 1999, the native of Lincoln, Nebraska, had his initial encounter with Layla Kiffin (Greer Reaves) through his father Monte, an NFL defensive coordinator. After just three months of dating, the couple’s affection quickly developed and they became engaged.
Even before making the marriage proposal to Layla, Lane got her father’s approval. In a previous interview, Layla’s father, Dan Reaves, spoke about Lane’s proposal.”I anticipated him saying he was quitting coaching and seeking employment. Instead, he requested my daughter’s hand in marriage. I contacted her to inquire about his sincerity. It was not my intention to spoil the surprise. The next day, they bought an engagement ring.”
On July 1, 2004, Lane and Layla Kiffin officially became husband and wife. Layla gave birth to her first child, a daughter called Landry, a year after the wedding. A second daughter, Pressley, was born to the couple two years later. Knox, named after Knoxville, was the first boy Lane and his wife welcomed in 2009.
With their kids, Lane and his wife were living a happy life and sharing special occasions. For instance, Lane tweeted his wife’s birthday wishes on January 3, 2012, the day she turned 37. On his Twitter, he wrote, “Happy 37th birthday, Layla!”
But by August 2015, there were suspicions that Lane had an extramarital relationship and even engaged in physical contact with Kristen, Nick Saban’s daughter and the head coach of the University of Alabama. The daughter of Nick Saban and Lane Kiffin, Kristen, was allegedly having a sexual relationship in 2016.
The rumors spread like wildfire, and online trolls mocked Lane for his infidelity everywhere. Even his Wikipedia page had been mockingly altered by an unidentified user. Even though the rumors were never proven, when Layla heard about them, she made the audacious decision to file for divorce on February 28, 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. Lane spoke to Fox Sports on the couple’s decision to split.
“Layla and I have jointly chosen to get a divorce after giving it a lot of contemplation. The future of our children is our priority, and we are entirely devoted to that. As we raise these three amazing children, we will continue to have a cordial relationship and respect for one another. We appreciate your respect for our family’s privacy and will not make any additional comments.”
Lane Kiffin was required to pay 34.5 percent of his total income as part of the divorce settlement after his wife even requested spousal support. Later, Lane was relieved of his duties as an offensive coordinator, which caused him financial difficulties. Even in an interview with Pete Thamel, he was overheard saying,
“I pay taxes at a rate of about 52%. In the divorce, Layla will receive 34.5 percent, while [agent Jimmy Sexton] will receive 3 percent. I live in Tuscaloosa and earn [approximately] 9% of the local average. Lane and his ex-wife are still friendly despite their divorce, and Layla occasionally includes her ex-husband in social media posts.
On October 2, 2016, Layla posted a photo of herself with her kids and told Lane that his kids were the greatest victories he had ever won. Like his ex-wife, who is still alone following the divorce, he is not known to be dating anyone. Even if he were dating someone, Lane would undoubtedly keep his girlfriend’s identity a secret because he had a hard lesson to learn from the previous incident.
How did Lane Kiffin start his Professional Career?
Lane spent a year as a graduate assistant at Colorado State University the year after that. He then developed into an excellent assistant with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He worked as the offensive coordinator, wide receiver coach, and tight end coach for the University of Southern California (USC) for almost five years.
Lane was initially employed by Pete Carroll in 2001 as a tight-end coach. He was given the wide receiver coach’s duties for two years (2002–2004). He also received a promotion to offensive coordinator in 2005. Al Davis, the owner of the Oakland Raiders, hired him in 2007 after he had a fruitful tenure at USC. Davis, however, fired Lane, saying that he had disgraced the company.
In 2009, he spent a year as a member of the University of Tennessee Volunteers. He was then hired by USC once more, but this time as a coach. After three years there, he later signed up with the 2014 Alabama Crimson Tide football team. After two years, he accepted a position as head coach at Florida Atlantic University. He guided the group to a 10-win campaign and its second c-USA title.
He accepted the head coaching position with the Ole Miss Rebels in December 2019 and formally joined the team.
