July 2000 saw the couple tie the knot. A small ceremony was held when they exchanged vows in front of their family and close friends.
Rewinding to 1999, the pair first crossed paths when Lane chose to see his father, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin. Layla was reportedly in charge of the Buccaneers’ special events division at the time. That’s how the two got together.
They clicked right away and began dating.
Kiffin requested permission from Layla’s father to wed his daughter.
After barely three months of dating, the pair became engaged, but not before Lane asked Layla’s late father, Dan Reaves, for permission to propose.
“Lane came to visit me, the receptionist at my office buzzed me. I assumed he was going to say he was looking for a job and was leaving coaching. Rather, he inquired about becoming married to my daughter. I asked her over the phone, “Is he serious?” I wasn’t meant to spoil the surprise, I chuckle. That day, they purchased an engagement ring.
Not too long after becoming engaged, the couple exchanged vows.
They’re Parents of Three
Three happy little ones are the parents of Lane and his ex-wife Layla. In 2005, they welcomed Landry, a daughter, as their first child. Presley, their second daughter, was born at the beginning of 2007.
2009 saw the birth of Lane Kiffin’s wife’s third child, a son named Knox. Lane was the University of Tennessee Volunteers head coach at the time.
After having three children, Layla told Knox News that she was at a loss for what to do.
“I was content with the direction my career was taking and I loved what I did.” But now that they’re here, I can’t even consider going to work. I just can’t get into it. We’ve expressed a desire for additional children, but I’m not sure. Right now, I’m content with what I have.
The couple and their children resided in a 10,000-square-foot lakefront house in Knoxville. Their Treasure Island beach house was also owned by them.
Lane and his spouse Layla parted ways amicably.
Even though their relationship was first full of sunshine and rainbows, the couple decided to part ways. The football coach made a statement on their breakup in February 2016. Lane informed Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports that their split was cordial.
Layla and I have jointly chosen to get a divorce after giving it a lot of contemplation. We firmly believe that our children’s future should come first. While raising these three amazing children, we will continue to have a cordial and respectful relationship. We respect the privacy of our family and will not be commenting more.
TMZ reports that on March 4, 2016, Layla filed for divorce from her spouse, citing irreconcilable differences. Along with spousal support, she requested shared legal custody of their child in her petition.
In jest, Lane said he’s always wondered who between Barack Obama and his ex-wife gets to keep more of his money. At last, he “figured it out.” To be honest, I don’t make any money. I pay taxes at a rate of about 52%. In the divorce, Layla receives 34.5 percent, while [agent Jimmy Sexton] receives 3 percent. My income is [about] 9%, and I reside in Tuscaloosa.
The Alleged Relationship Between Lane and Kristen Saban
In 2015, a lot of attention was focused on Kiffin’s supposed affair with Kristen Saban, even though he was still married to Layla. Kristen is the daughter of Nick Saban, the head coach of the University of Alabama. From 2014 until 2016, Lane served as the University’s offensive coordinator.

Sources claim that during the time, Lane and Jennifer made a few covert public appearances. Coach visited the Wishing Well Irish Pub in Mizner Park on Monday night to watch the NCAA basketball championships, an employee of the establishment informed the Miami Herald.
“He arrived with Jennifer, who also comes here often, and they had a connection,” the person continued. They have feelings for one another.
They never verified the allegations despite all the build-up; Jennifer said they are simply close friends.
She graduated from the University of South California and works as an account executive for Palm Beach Media Group at the moment.
