Larry Fitzgerald was born as Larry Darnell Fitzgerald Jr on 31st August of 1983 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was raised by Larry Fitzgerald Sr. and Carol Fitzgerald. His father, Larry Fitzgerald Sr. is a sportswriter at Minnesota Spokesman-Records.
About his mother, Carol Fitzgerald died in 2003 due to a brain hemorrhage while she was getting treatment for breast cancer. In addition, he grew up with a younger brother named Marcus Fitzgerald who is also a football player.

Larry Fitzgerald left his senior year to attend Valley Forge Military Academy in 2004 and petitioned the NFL to allow him in 2004 NFL Draft. He was allowed in the draft and got lots of opportunities for his career.
