Lazar Kolisevski was born in Serbia on February 12, 1914. Communist politician who was one of the most powerful people in PR Macedonia after World War II. He served as the 1st President of the Executive Council of PR Macedonia from 1945 to 1953. He was a close ally of the Yugoslav political leader, Josip Tito. He joined Yugoslav opposition forces in their fight against Nazi-allied Bulgaria in 1941, when he was twenty-seven years old.
