One well-known political figure in South Korea is Lee Jae-myung. He was raised in poverty in Andong. Lee was able to obtain middle and high school equivalency credentials after completing elementary school.
He later studied at Chung-Ang University, where he graduated in 1986 with a law degree.
After changing careers, Lee worked with Minbyun and advocated for a new hospital in Seongnam as a labor and human rights lawyer.
