Lee Whitlock, a British TV and film actor best known for roles in Wish You Were Here, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street, and other films, died on Monday, February 20 at the age of 54, according to his acting agency.
The actor, who portrayed Bevis Loveday in four episodes of the BBC One TV series Grange Hill, has been in the industry for over four decades. His company, Urban Collective, tweeted the news of Lee Whitlock’s death on Monday. As stated in the tweet: As of the publication of this article, the parties involved had not disclosed the cause of Whitlock’s death.

Several people were taken aback when they learned of Whitlock’s death and reacted quickly on social media. Several people recalled the late actor’s career-defining roles in a variety of television shows and films, including Two of Us, which is regarded as groundbreaking for its depiction of the issue of homos*xuality, and Shine on Harvey Moon.
Some, on the other hand, expressed their condolences with “RIP” comments. English actor Andrew Lancel, best known for his role in BBC One’s Cardiac Arrest, expressed his feelings, saying he has admired Whitlock since Shine on Harvey Moon. Lancel, who collaborated on two projects with Whitlock, tweeted:
British novelist Matthew Todd recalled Whitlock’s performance on Two of Us while noting that the late actor first rose to prominence on Shine on Harvey Moon, an ’80s show on which he appeared 41 times. Liam Rudden, a writer, journalist, and stage director, also shared his thoughts on Twitter. Another person stated that Whitlock’s Two of Us helped them “come to terms with their identity” and that they had “high regard” for the actor.
Two of Us, in which Lee Whitlock co-starred with Jason Rush, received widespread acclaim for its critique of the Thatcherite government’s intended restriction (via Section 28 law) on s*x education centered on LGTBTQ+. Lee Whitlock was most recently seen as Spencer in Israr Azam’s 2022 film D Is for Detroit. There is no public information about the late actor’s relationship or marital status.
