Elizaveta “Liz” Parnov was born to Alex and Nadia Parnov in Moscow, Russia. Her family is quite athletic, especially in the pole vault.

Prior to coaching athletes like Paul Burgess, Emma George, Steve Hooker, Tatiana Grigorieva, Dmitri Markov, and Viktor Chistiakov, her father, Alex, was a world-class pole vaulter.

Nadia, Liz’s mother, is a former track hurdler whose parents, Father Valentine Tchistiakov and mother Natalia Pechenkina, were also prominent Olympians.

While the latter captured the bronze medal for the then-USSR in the women’s 400m event at the 1968 Summer Olympics, the former participated in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.

Liz is also Tatiana Grigorieva’s niece, who represented Australia and took home the silver medal in the pole vault at the 2000 Summer Olympics.

When Liz was two, the Parnov family emigrated to Australia in 1996. When she jumped 2.65 meters at age nine, she started competing in pole vaulting.

Liz achieved two age records of 3.15 and 3.64 meters at the ages of 11 and 12, respectively. She became transparent 4 days after turning 14 in 2008.

The Russian-Australian athlete competed at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010 and took home silver after jumping 4.40 meters.

The Parnov Sisters: Age Differences

The joyful parents of four stunning blonde girls are Alex and Nadia Parnov.

Vicky, their oldest child, was the first to develop a fascination in pole vaulting. The 32-year-old, who is the current national champion from Australia, was motivated by her aunt Grigorieva.

Vicky, who began competing at the age of 10, later won the youth global championship and competed for Australia in the long jump at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

Liz herself is the next oldest, followed by Natasha and Alla, twin daughters who are 19 years old. In the national under-15 championships, the latter won gold and silver medals in that order.

The competitive mentality of their family is ingrained in the Parnov sisters. Alla was told that Vicky will retire the day the twins began jumping as high as she did during one of their conversations.

The challenge was accepted by Alla, who asserted, “You have to work hard to get where they are because they are so good. But if Vicky said it, then let’s go for it.

Vicky’s best of 4.40 meters, which was formerly the Australian u-20 record, was tied by Liz in April 2010 and then surpassed in February 2012 because the sisters are so naturally competitive.
