The fundraising effort had generated more than $107,000 by late Monday afternoon. Ritter claims that any money generated will be utilized to charter a life-saving plane to transport Burke from Mexico to Jacksonville, Florida.
Burke at Cabo San Lucas awakened on Friday feeling fine, but Ritter claimed that Burke began complaining of a headache as he was eating breakfast.
When she went to her room to rest, her friends tried to wake her up but were unsuccessful. After a few hours, they called an ambulance.
After being sent to a medical facility, an arteriovenous malformation was found in her. Burke experienced a brain hemorrhage, according to Ritter.
Arteriovenous malformation, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine, occurs when a grouping of blood arteries fails to develop properly in the body.
According to study from Johns Hopkins, arteries and veins that are bypassing healthy areas “unusually knot and create direct connections.”
Ritter claims that Mexican medical professionals concur that Burke needs to be immediately transported back to the United States for treatment.
