Katie Thurston is biting the hand that feeds her… a good deal of fame and riches. The 31-year-old rose to prominence first as a suitor on The Bachelor and then as the star on The Bachelorette. Nonetheless, in the aftermath of the Love is Blind Season 2 conclusion, Thurston slammed the ABC franchise while praising the Netflix reality show.
“Oh, I’m enamored with this program’s genuine connections without the distractions of made-up drama and field games,” Thurston said of Love is Blind on Monday, complimenting the romantic competition.
At the same time, she certainly auditioned for The Bachelorette. Unless you believe Thurston was not referring to this latter program when he mentioned made-up drama and field games…Both The Bachelorette and Love is Blind follow couples who want to marry.
Season 2 of Love Is Blind, for example, showed a number of engagements (including a handful that viewers missed) that occurred before the men and women in question ever met.
The series is actually “blind,” as the title implies, and keeps contestants apart until they accept a proposal.
Two of the six couples in the series’ center said “I do” at the end.
Meanwhile, Thurston ended her season of The Bachelorette with an engagement to Blake Moynes. The pair split up in October, with Moynes eventually accusing Thurston of having an emotional affair, if not an outright physical one after Thurston was seen out with John Hersey, a suitor Katie had previously sent home.
Thurston and Hersey are still in a relationship.
“I don’t believe there was any physical cheating there, but there was certainly emotional cheating for it to transfer as quickly as it did.” “Moynes remarked on the Talking It Out With Bachelor Nation podcast late last year:
“To some extent, I feel stupid and foolish for allowing it to happen.”
Hersey highlighted in a lengthy Reddit answer at the time that there was nothing wrong with himself or Thurston, and that he had always accepted his now-friendship girlfriends with Moynes.
“The bounds of our friendship with regard to her continued relationship were never even discussed because neither of us imagined that we would ever be anything more.
Hersey wrote, “You guys- she was engaged.”
At the moment, he came to the following conclusion:
“Many of you clearly misunderstand how both she and I regard that commitment.
“Katie and I would never cheat, encourage someone to cheat or participate in cheating.
“It is not in our nature to do so. It’s not good enough. It is not acceptable.”
