Macaulay Culkin was one of the most well-known child celebrities in the early 1990s. After starring in a string of box office hits, the actor in Home Alone rocketed to notoriety overnight.
As he grew older, though, Culkin desired to leave the spotlight and live a normal life. In the mid-2000s, he unexpectedly abandoned the entertainment world.
Internet users had plenty to discuss in his absence, including drug abuse and death rumors. When he returned in 2009, suspicions of his drug use only intensified.
Macaulay Culkin was high?
Late in 2004, a mugshot of the actor was released after his automobile was searched by Oklahoma authorities. Culkin, then 24 years old, was held for allegedly possessing marijuana and a controlled substance without a prescription.
Eight years later, a photograph of Culkin clutching an energy drink, this time, went viral. It spawned allegations that he was under the influence of narcotics.
During that year, in an interview with The Guardian, the actor described his struggle with charges of drug addiction and the media’s relentless pursuit of him. It was the first interview he had conducted in almost a decade.
Culkin stated that he was not snorting $6,000 worth of drugs monthly.
“What disturbed me was how tabloids disguised their lack of concern,” he remarked.
According to the tale, Culkin slept up late, stayed up late, enjoyed filthy comedy, and hung out with friends who were negative influences at the time.
The New York native stated,
“That has allowed me to become who I am, and I appreciate who I am, so I wouldn’t change a thing.” “Being able to eat without having to work allows me to treat each job as if it were my last.”
The actor revealed his drug use in a separate interview with Esquire in 2020, saying,
“I adore them. Similar to old acquaintances. But, there are times when you outgrow your friends.”
Macaulay Culkin Describes the Divorce of His Parents
In 1995, when Kit and Patricia split after 20 years of marriage, Macaulay was 14 years old. His father was also his manager at the time.
Following their divorce, his parents argued over who would be responsible for raising their seven children and managing Culkin’s burgeoning profession.
A year later, it was discovered that the star of My Girl had made the historic decision to become an adult and remove his parents as legal guardians.
He was also rumored to want to retain control of his $13 million fortune and prevent his parents from determining his future.
In an interview with Esquire in 2020, he corrected the record, noting that the story had been entirely misinterpreted.’ He stated that he and his siblings did not wish to join their father.
“It is commonly considered that I became ’emancipated’ from my parents. He stated,
“I formally withdrew my parents’ names from my trust fund and designated an executor to manage my assets in case someone tried to stick their pinky in the pie.
He continued by saying that it was later discovered that he had separated from his parents. Culkin stated he was acting appropriately by concealing the identities of my parents in order to maintain his impartiality.
As he was earning approximately £6 million per picture, his parents allegedly started withholding 15% of his earnings.
