Madison, a 21-year-old University of Idaho student from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, was one of the unfortunate four killed at an off-campus house last November.
Mogen was attacked together with three companions, Kaylee Goncalves (21), Xana Kernodle (20), and Ethan Chapin (20), in their three-story leased home.
Bryan Christopher Kohberger, 28, of Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, was identified as the perpetrator.
Kohberger was apprehended on December 30 in his parent’s home in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, by an FBI SWAT team and Pennsylvania State Police.

Madison Mogen was born in Laramie, Wyoming, to Karen Caufield Laramie and Ben Mogen.
Ben and Karen were the unfortunate parents that had to face the sad experience of seeing their daughter’s murder during a random murdering spree.
The Mogens were devastated to learn that their daughter Madison was one of the four victims of the 2022 University of Idaho shootings.
Madison’s father, Ben, described her as “smart and funny.” He remembered how he found out about the sad situation.
Ben told the Spokesman-Review that he first received a call from Madison’s mother, Karen, when he was at the movies. He originally stated that he would call Karen later.
But then he got a call from his mother and was told to go around, wondering whether the incident had anything to do with his daughter Maddie.

She had a close relationship with her daughter, Maddie, as evidenced by her social media page, which is loaded with images of her.

She was also a Pi Beta Phi sorority member and worked at the Mad Greek restaurant in Moscow, Idaho.

Kaylee Goncalves (21), of Rathdrum, Idaho, Xana Kernodle (20), of Post Falls, Idaho, and Ethan Chapin (20), of Conway, Washington, were stabbed to death beside Maddie.
Madison was from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and she grew up in Northern Idaho with Kaylee Goncalves, her best friend.

Madison and Jake Chriger had been dating since April 2021. They would frequently feature each other on their social media pages.
Jake shared photos of himself and Maddie in a sorrowful Instagram post a week after the terrible death of his fiancée.
Maddie’s father, Ben, also highlighted Jake in his remarks for Reuters Pictures’ Moscow, Idaho coverage.
Ben expressed his happiness that his daughter had a taste of love and that she and Jake would marry eventually.
