Personal Life of Mahmood Yakubu

Professor Mahmood Yakubu was born in Bauchi State in 1962. Mr. Yakubu attended Kobi Primary School till the end of his primary schooling before attending Government Teachers College in Toro to conclude his secondary education. He then applied to Usmanu Danfodiyo University. Mahmood is the first and only Nigerian from the North to have received a first-class certificate for a history degree.

He also graduated from Wolfson College with a master’s degree in international relations. Mahmood also earned a Ph.D. from the University of Oxford, graduating in 1991. He received a scholarship from the Bauchi State Government to study at Cambridge and Oxford Universities. The Nigerian scholar also got a Commonwealth Scholarship from the Association of Commonwealth Universities in addition to the three Overseas Research Scholarships.
