Malcolm was appointed assistant minister of the Nation’s Temple Number One in Detroit and helped to establish Boston’s Temple Number 11. The former American Muslim minister successfully recruited Nation of Islam members and established temples in Springfield, Massachusetts. Malcolm was 6 feet 3 inches tall, so he had an attractive physical appearance in addition to his work and leadership.

On February 21, 1965, Malcolm X was assassinated at the Audubon Ballroom. In connection with his murder, three men were sentenced and imprisoned. Muhammad Aziz, then 83, and the late Khalil Islam were both wrongfully convicted.

Similarly, Mujahid Abdul Halim, the third person, confessed to his involvement in the murder; however, he revealed that the two other Aziz and Islam were innocent, and neither was involved in the shooting case. Malcolm was killed by multiple gunshots. He was pronounced dead after receiving 21 shots to the chest.

On the day of the murder, Malcolm was preparing to address the OAAU in Manhattan’s Audubon Ballroom when someone in the audience yelled, “Nigger! Remove your hand from my pocket. A man ran towards Malcolm and shot him in the chest as he and his bodyguard tried to calm things down. Likewise, two other men evaluated the stage shooting.

The shooters were later identified as members of the Nation of Islam’s Newark, New Jersey, mosque: William 25X, aka William Bradley, who fired the shotgun; Leon Davis; and Thomas Hayer. Before police arrived, the crowd beat one of the gunmen, Thomas, a member of the Nation of Islam. And three of them were convicted and sentenced to life in prison for murder.

Malcolm X’s murder case has resurfaced in the media, as his daughter has filed notices that she intends to sue the FBI, CIA, New York City Police, and others in connection with his death. Similarly, Ilyasah Shabazz blamed and charged New York government agencies as well as various federal agencies for failing to give the case their full attention.

She also stated that they were attempting to conceal evidence that they “conspired to and executed their plan to assassinate Malcolm X.” Malcolm’s daughter added that they have been fighting for his assassination for many years, hoping for the truth about his murder to come to light.

The New York Police Department stated that they would not be commenting on the pending case. Similarly, the FBI and CIA did not respond to requests for comment.

Malcolm X was an American Muslim Prime Minister who was born on May 19, 1925, and died on February 21, 1965, at the age of 49. He was an excellent public speaker who supported Muslims and built numerous temples. He rose to prominence as the leader of an African-American Muslim group that united Black separatism for over a decade.
