Marcel Young | About Her Parents, Career, & Love Life

Marcel Young

Marcel Young is the son of Dr. Dre and Michel’le (pronounced MEESH-uh-lay) Toussant, a singer. Young is Dre’s sixth child and his mother’s first.

Young, unlike Dre’s other offspring, has kept his personal and professional life under wraps. He’s been nearly impossible for the media to track down for years, so there’s not much to say about him.

So now you know why Marcel Young prefers to remain anonymous and hasn’t opened up to the world like his father or mother. Also, acknowledge yourself with every tidbit of information you have about Marcel Young.

The Birth of Marcel Young; His Mother Had No Idea She Was Pregnant With Him For Six Weeks

Marcel Young, Dr. Dre and Michel’le’s son, was born on February 6, 1991, in Los Angeles, California. Theodore and Verna Young were his grandparents and Dre’s parents. Theodore was the owner of an amateur R&B ensemble. Young is of Louisiana Creole origin on his mother’s side.

Michel’le found out about her pregnancy with Marcel quite late. She wouldn’t find out about him until she was 6 weeks pregnant. She was still on the Hammer tour and had two months left.

She needed to return home to have the baby and finish up some more concerts. Toussant afterwards became a stay-at-home mother.

She advises against having a baby if one wishes to work in this industry. Young’s mother explains that the infant is capable of taking a year and a half off.

One of Marcel Young’s siblings died as a result of a drug overdose.

Marcel Young is the first child of R&B artist Michel’le, and Dr. Dre’s fourth kid. In addition to Marcel, Beats Electronics’ CEO has three more boys and three daughters.

In addition, Marcel’s mother, Michel’le, has another kid, a daughter from her marriage with Suge Knight.

Bailei Knight, Young’s half-sister from his mother’s marriage to Suge, was born on November 28, 2002. Suge and Michel’le welcomed her three years after their marriage. Marcel has a terrific relationship with his younger sister, according to Dre. Dre’s ex-wife.

Marcel also has six more half-siblings through his father’s relationships with various women. Curtis Young, Truice Young, and Andre Young Jr. are his half-brothers. In 2009, he died as a result of a drug overdose. Truly Young, La Tanya Danielle Young, and Tyra Young are Marcel’s other half-sisters.

Young has a strong kinship with all of his half-siblings, despite the fact that they rarely appear together in public.

Struggles of Marcel Young’s Mother, Michel’le Toussant

Toussaint grew up in a family that lived paycheck to paycheck, forcing her to leave South Central Los Angeles. She used to go to school 30 miles away, in the relatively prosperous community of Woodland Hills. The integration of the Los Angeles Unified School District had far-reaching consequences in his mother’s life.

Toussant, now 50, is well known for her self-titled double-platinum album from 1989. Young’s mother recorded “Turn Off the Lights” for World Class Wreckin’ Cru, Dr. Dre’s R&B group with DJ Yella, when she was 16 years old in 1986.

Toussaint used to take three buses to work every day. She was intelligent, but she had little understanding of the inner workings of the music industry, and she never received a penny from the song’s royalties. Dre’s ex-wife admitted to wearing the same jeans three times a week. Her mother had too many children, making it difficult for her to provide.

For Six Years, His Parents Were Married.

In the late 1980s, Dre and Toussant met at Ruthless Records.

Toussaint and Dre began dating months after “Turn Off the Lights” (1987). The former, on the other hand, never considered herself as much more than Dre’s lover until Eazy-E approached her about signing with Ruthless Records. Dre produced her debut album, “No More Lies,” which featured the track “No More Lies.”

With Dr. Dre as the godfather of the American hip-hop industry, Toussant’s existence felt like something out of a dream. Young’s father once surprised her with a house he’d purchased for them both in Calabasas, California.

In addition to the physical abuse, Dre was a habitual cheater. They had been in a love relationship for six years.

The 2016 American biographical TV drama film ‘Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge, & Michel’le’ explored Young’s parents’ relationship, Dr. Dre and Michel’le.

Marcel’s father was quite abusive to his mother.

In 1991, Young’s father raped her in a Los Angeles nightclub. According to Gawker’s journalist, Toussaint believed Dre was planning to murder her at the time. Young’s parents resolved a civil claim outside of court after the rapper pleaded no contest to the allegation.

Toussaint told Vlad TV that she was relieved she wasn’t in the film. Young’s mother said that she was always simply a silent girlfriend who was beaten and instructed to sit down and shut up.

Sadly, it wasn’t until Toussaint’s departure from South Central that she learned domestic abuse wasn’t typical and that she’d done nothing to deserve it. She also never reported Dre to the police. Marcel’s mother explained that she was quiet since she didn’t know any better and mistook it for love.

Toussaint revealed to New York radio station Power 105 that Dre repeatedly punched her with a clinched fist and gave her black eyes on at least five occasions. He allegedly fractured her nose and cracked her rib.

Furthermore, Toussaint said that Dre, like many other males who commit intimate partner abuse, alienated her from her acquaintances, particularly guys.

Marcel’s mother was also shot by Dre.

Michel’le also discussed the time Dr. Dre fired a shot at her during an interview with VLAD TV.

She remembered they had just partied, then argued, he went to get the gun, and she had just made it through the bathroom door. Toussant claimed Marcel’s father fired a gun at her, missing me by a few inches.

Michel’le then left the bullet in the hole. She told how it went through the door and then through the side of the wall in the bathroom, where she kept it for a bit so he could see it.

Toussant stated that following the incident, he never attempted to shoot her again. However, the beatings would continue.

Michel’le’s second husband, Marcel Young’s mother, was also abusive.

While Marcel’s mother was able to break free from Dre, physical abuse was certain to return, only this time the perpetrator was not the Grammy-winning performer.

Suge Knight, the founder of Death Row Records, allegedly only hit Toussant once. He then pledged to never hurt her again because “she was too small.”

Suge was in jail for six of the eight years the pair was together. The record producer is currently incarcerated on a 2015 attempted murder conviction.

What Is Marcel Young Up To These Days?

Marcel, it is clear, is elusive, and he is not looking for attention. Young has had no media presence aside from his appearance in Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge, and Michel’le.

To further complicate matters, he isn’t particularly popular on social media.

Marcel’s Father Is Wealthy monetary value

Given his father’s income, it wouldn’t be inaccurate to say Young was born into wealth. Dr. Dre’s net worth is expected to be north of $800 million as of 2021, placing him among the top five richest rappers in the world.

Dre made around US$52 million with the sale of a portion of his stake in Aftermath Entertainment to Interscope Records and the production of Mary J. Blige’s smash song, Family Affair (2001).

Rolling Stone magazine named him the year’s second-highest-paid artist in 2001.

Dr. Dre ranked 44th in 2004 with $11.4 million in profits, primarily from production royalties from projects like as albums by G-Unit and D12, as well as the single Rich Girl by singer Gwen Stefani and rapper Eve.

Forbes assessed his net worth to be $270 million in 2012. According to the publication, Young’s father earned US$110 million from his many activities in 2012, making him the highest-paid artist of the year.

His 2014 sale of Beats to Apple was the most lucrative single-year payoff in music history. As a result, Dr. Dre became the world’s richest musical performer in 2015.

The Mechanic bought a $40 million mansion in Los Angeles’ Brentwood district in 2014. It was previously owned by power couple Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bundchen.
