On March 9, 1983, he was born as the only son of Russell G. Richardson, a retired US Navy colonel, and Toussaint Richardson. Marcus spent the most of his childhood moving across the world as a result of his father’s job. He lived in several countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, and Japan.
