Police eventually learned that his death was caused by a hit-and-run by a silver Jeep driven by Marisa Utterback of Fremont. Utterback stated she had struck a deer some days before. Officers, however, concluded the ding on the vehicle was not the result of a car-deer incident.

Marisa Utterback Has Been Arrested For Murder Mr. Yashua Martinez

Marisa Utterback was arrested for Yashya Martinez’s hit-and-run death. In September 2022, the Fremont lady was accountable for the motor vehicle murder of the La Vista man.

30-year-old Marisa is accused of murdering Yashya, 27, in September 2022. Utterback is facing five felony counts, according to the Dodge County Attorney’s Office. She is also charged with careless driving, failing to offer help, abandoning the scene of an accident, tampering with evidence, and other traffic infractions in addition to murder.

On September 22, construction workers discovered an unidentified male dead on Highway 275 near Morningside Road. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was notified, and Highway 275 was blocked for nearly seven hours for the investigation, along with the Douglas County Crime Lab. It was established that the individual died as a result of an automobile accident. Two days later, the corpse was identified as 27-year-old Yashya Martinez of La Vista.

Martinez’s corpse was most likely on the road for at least four days, according to the warrant. Large silver automobile pieces and a silver paint chip on the victim’s shoe were found at the site by lab technicians. A silver Jeep was discovered at a nearby body shop, according to a search warrant.

The Jeep’s owner, Marisa Utterback, said that she struck a deer on September 19 and took the SUV to the repair shop. The damage was incongruous with a vehicle-deer collision, and the automobile pieces located at the crime scene were gone, according to the detectives.

Utterback’s neighbor told detectives that she saw the silver Jeep in her driveway on September 18. The neighbor also said that the Jeep’s front and windshield were damaged, and that blood was found on the car.

Is Marisa Utterback still incarcerated?

Marisa Utterback is not incarcerated since she was freed on bond soon after her arrest. The 30-year-old was given a $250,000 bail; she paid 10% of the money and is now free.

The Fremont lady is also charged with insurance fraud because she falsely reported hitting a deer. Authorities also confiscated Utterback’s mobile phone in order to determine its position at the time of the event. Marisa Utterback’s trial for the murder of Yashya Martinez is set for a later date.
