At the age of 21, he finally gave up martial arts to concentrate exclusively on the strongman competition. He also took home the title of Strongest Man in Poland, and in 2000, he competed in the World’s Strongest Man Contest for the first time, placing fourth behind Janne Virtanen, Magnus Samuelsson, and Svend Karlsen.

Nikola was eliminated by him in the opening round. He competed against former KSW tourney champion Lukasz Jurkowski at KSW 63: Crime of the Century on June 5, 2021.
In the third round, he knocked Lukasz out to win. KSW has rescheduled the battle between Mariusz and Ousmane. At KSW 64, the battle took place on October 23, 2021. In the opening round, Mariusz eliminated Ousmane in just 18 seconds.
