On April 8, 1963, Mark (then 58 years old) was born. He is of German, Scots-Irish, and Scottish ancestry on his father’s side. Dean, the paternal grandfather of Mark, worked as an auditor for the state of Ohio. Of Neil’s three children with Janet, he is the youngest.

His father, Armstrong died on August 25 in 2012, in Cincinnati, o, aged 82. On August 7, 2012, he had undergone bypass surgery to treat coronary artery disease. Even though it was reported that Mark’s father was doing well, he eventually passed away in the hospital due to complications.
Six years later, on June 21, 2018, Janet, at eighty-four, passed away in West Chester, Ohio. Her illness had been lung cancer.
