Guitarist Mark Sheehan died recently at the age of 46. He was best known as the co-founder of the Irish rock band The Script, who posted a photo of him on their official Instagram page to commemorate his death. The following was the caption:
“Mark Sheehan, much loved husband, father, brother, bandmate, and friend, died in hospital today after a brief illness.” The family and group ask that fans respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
Singer Mary Lambert also paid tribute to Sheehan on Facebook, posting a photo of herself with Sheehan and two other band members. She stated that the band approached her in 2015 and asked her to open for them. She continued, saying:
“Mark was breathtakingly beautiful, kind-hearted, and literally a beacon of light.” Everyone who loved and cared for him has my heartfelt condolences. “You will be missed, Mark.”
Sony Music Australia’s official Facebook page also mourned Sheehan’s death, describing him as a talented composer, guitarist, and founding member of The Script. Mark is survived by his three children and wife, Rina Sheehan.
The marriage of Mark and Rina Sheehan
Rina first met Mark Sheehan while working as a session vocalist for The Script in the United States. Cameron, their first child, was born in 2008 after the couple married in 2005. They eventually had a girl named Avery and a boy named Lil. In 2008, Mark told The Mirror that he was producing and working with several studios while Rina worked as a studio session vocalist and backup singer. He continued, saying:
“And we just clicked in the same way that you do.” We got married three years ago and are about to have our first child.”
Mark began his career as a MyTown participant
Mark Sheehan was born in the south inner-city neighborhood of the Liberties on October 29, 1976. He began his career in the MyTown band, which was formed in 1996. The other members were Tony Dunne, Paul Walker, and Terry Daly. Tony eventually left the band and moved to America with his childhood friend, Danny O’Donoghue. The group then began writing and producing songs for other music industry figures. They were eventually joined by drummer Glen Power, and The Script was born.
Last year, Mark declined to join the band on their Great Hits tour. Danny believes it was because his family required his assistance at the time. In an interview with Sunday World, Danny stated:
“He’s been such a driving force behind The Script for so long that I told him, ‘If you want to take a bit of time out for your family, you are more than welcome to, and I insist on you going and doing it.'”
The Script’s self-titled debut album was released in 2008, and five more albums were released by 2019. They’ve also released 22 singles, four EPs, and two compilation albums.
