Mark assaulted two Vietnamese persons in 1988 while under the influence of phencyclidine.

He punched one man in the eye and used racist epithets to address both of them. He also used a five-foot wooden staff to knock one of the men out.

Arrest and Charge of Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg was detained for the 1986 attack because he had violated the civil rights of his victims.

He and two pals became the targets of a civil rights injunction. The trial lasted a month before the case was resolved.

Wahlberg was charged with attempted murder for the 1988 assault on the Vietnamese.

He claimed the attacks were not racially motivated and that he was inebriated, but he ultimately entered a guilty plea to felony assault.
