Marlee Matlin and Her Husband’s First Date Grandalski and Matlin met in June 1991 while the actress was filming a sequence for her NBC television series Reasonable Doubts. When he first met Matlin, Grandalski, for example, had no idea who she was.
It wasn’t until someone pointed her out to him that he realized she was an actress. Seven months later, they crossed paths once more, and that is when they first began to flirt. They agreed to a romance and went on their first official date for a picnic lunch in a secret spot in a park in Los Angeles. On February 13, 1993, his birthday, he proposed to her while on his knees and presented her with a three-carat diamond ring. When he proposed to her, she said she wanted “as many children as my uterus can hold.”

The actress was reared by Don Matlin, a used-car dealer, and his wife, Libby, a jeweler, in Morton Grove, Illinois, as the youngest of their three children. There, she adored watching CHiPs, Mannix, and The Streets of San Francisco.
She also thought about a career in law enforcement and obtained a degree in criminal justice. For these reasons, she had a thing for police officers ever since she was a young girl. Even Executive Producer of Reasonable Doubts Robert Singer admitted as much in a People magazine article.
Grandalski, on the other hand, has always dreamed of being a police officer. He was the oldest of three children reared in Fresno, California, by forestry worker Richmond Grandalski and postmistress Charlotte. When asked about her lifelong dream of becoming a police officer, the actress responded, “Marrying one is better.”
On August 29, 2021, Matlin published a message on Instagram to alert her followers to a very significant occasion. Today is our 28th wedding anniversary. You are indeed fortunate. She implied in the caption of the photo that she and her husband were commemorating their wedding anniversary.
She continued to express herself in her message by stating that she was looking forward to another 28 years of marriage with him. The actress has four great children and a loving marriage, which is undoubtedly fortunate for her. She consequently couldn’t help but regularly boast on social media about her family, including her spouse and kids.
