Recently, actress Mary Alice passed away at the age of 85. Due to her portrayal as The Oracle in The Matrix Revolutions, she soared to notoriety. An NYPD official reports that Alice passed away on July 27 at her residence. Mary’s cause of death is unknown, and funeral information has not been disclosed.

Mary Alice plays The Oracle in the third chapter of The Matrix trilogy. In the first two films, the role was played by Gloria Foster, who died in 2001. However, after her passing, the post was transferred to Alice.

The Oracle asserted that she could see beyond her own decisions, adding that no one, even herself, could see beyond a decision they did not understand.

Subsequently, it was explained that her power cannot be used to predict Neo’s future because he has free will when he rejects the Architect.

The Wachowskis directed the November 5, 2003 release of The Matrix Revolutions. Despite receiving poor reviews, the picture outperformed its predecessors at the box office.

Leticia “Lettie” Bostic in the NBC comedy A Different World and Effie Williams in the musical drama Sparkle brought her to popularity. Mary, who was born on 3 December 1936, began performing and working on stage at a young age.

Her family moved to Chicago when she was two years old, and she attended Chicago Teacher’s College. She later became an elementary school teacher. In the 1960s, Alice returned to acting, performing in three plays by Douglass Turner Ward.

Between 1969 and 1973, she cleaned the cast members’ clothes and acted in different shows at the La MaMa Experimental Theater Club in Manhattan’s East Village.

The actress continued to appear on stage until 1974, when she made her film debut in The Education of Sonny Carson, a blaxploitation drama. She has been on numerous television programs, such as Police Woman, Sanford and Son, All My Children, and A Different World.

I’ll Fly Away earned Alice the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series Emmy in 1993 for her performance. She has starring roles in films like Malcolm X, The Inkwell, and Down in the Delta. She was recognized in the American Theater Hall of Fame in the year 2000.

In addition to her role in The Matrix Revolutions, she also played The Oracle in the video game Enter the Matrix. The actress announced her retirement from acting in 2005.
