Family of Mary Cosby
She was born Mary Martha Harris in Utah on April 10, 1972. She is Dr. Rosemary “Mama” Cosby’s grandchild.
Mama Cosby went to Utah with her four children in 1961 and established the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church in 1968. She rose to notoriety as a Pentecostal minister who also amassed a multi-million dollar empire comprised of churches, real estate, residences, businesses, and other assets.
In 1975, she married Robert C. Cosby. Robert, who was 20 years her junior, would adopt her children and become Rosemary’s step-grandfather.
Mama Cosby died on January 4, 1997. Following her death, controversies arose, some of which are now part of the RHOSLC drama.
It’s even been suggested that Mary Cosby is related to the infamous Bill Cosby. However, there is no evidence to suggest that they are related in any way.
Husband of Mary Cosby
Cosby married her widower step-grandfather, Bishop Robert Cosby, in September 1998, as she stated on the RHOSLC premiere. He was 45 years old and she was 24.
Mary Cosby “inherited her family’s empire of churches, restaurants, and more,” according to her Bravo bio. But she had to marry Robert to receive her inheritance.
They have a teenage son at the moment. However, little is known about him.
Mary and Robert’s friendship has divided her castmates and many spectators. She has tasted the fury of “Queen Bee” Jen Shah in particular.
Legal Problems for Mary and Robert Cosby
Bishop Robert took over as pastor of Mama Cosby’s church soon after Mary and Robert married. However, this caused problems with Mama’s surviving children.
Rosalind Cazares, one of the children, left the church with hundreds of followers. She sued Robert, alleging that he falsified Rosemary Cosby’s signatures to seize her assets.
She also insisted that Robert give a financial report on Rosemary.
Cazares also claimed foul play was involved in her mother’s death. Rosemary was said to have died in her sleep from heart failure.
Robert, on the other hand, had denied her charges. For years, his court struggle with Rosemary’s children raged.
In 2007, Cazares filed another complaint alleging that Robert mismanaged Rosemary’s estate. According to the lawsuit, Robert denied Cazares her share of the estate.
While Mary is not branded as an offender in publications about her legal fights, many allege that the conflicts affected her relationships with her extended family. In addition, several former members of the family’s church have taken to the Bravo forums to say that Mary Cosby is a “cult leader.”
This same former church member was also blunt regarding Rosemary Cosby. Rosalind Cazares, according to the anonymous person, is Mary’s mother, while most sources say they are aunt and niece.
Viewers are hopeful that some of the family drama will cross over onto RHOSLC.
