Former EastEnders actress June Brown passed away on April 3 in Surrey, England. Relatives said they were devastated to learn of her death and that she passed away peacefully at home. Her co-star, Adam Woodyatt, hailed her as a “lovely person.” According to a spokesman for the program:
“There are no words to express how much everyone at EastEnders respected and admired June; her wonderful warmth, wit, and excellent sense of humor will be remembered forever.”
June created one of the most well-known characters in soap operas and British television with Dot Cotton, and her incredible performances in 2884 episodes contributed to some of EastEnders’ finest moments.

June Brown was 95 years old at the time of her passing. However, the cause has not been identified until now. After attending St. John’s Church of England School, she got a scholarship to Ipswich High School.
During World War II, she was evacuated to the Welsh village of Pontyates in Carmarthenshire.
Career
Brown served in the Wrens before receiving classical training at the Old Vic Theatre School in the Lambeth neighborhood of London.
Initially, the star of Psychomania appeared in small roles on Coronation Street, Play for Today, Edna, the Inebriated Woman, and The Time Warrior, among other programs. She played Mrs. Leyton in the BBC drama Duke Street and Mrs. Mann in the BBC drama Oliver Twist.
June featured in the WWII big band comedy Ain’t Misbehavin in 1997 and as Nancy Slagg in the BBC production of Gormenghast in 2000.
She then acted in supporting roles in films such as Sunday Bloody Sunday, Sitting Target, The 14, Murder by Decree, and The Mambo Kings.
In addition, she played Tom Hedden’s wife in the 1971 psychological thriller Straw Dogs, despite the fact that her scenes were removed. She subsequently starred alongside Phoebe Cates in the 1984 miniseries Lace.
In 2012, the actress from Margery and Gladys hosted the BBC program Respect Your Seniors, which focused on society’s treatment and attitude toward seniors. Brown gained notoriety for her portrayal as Dot Cotton on the BBC soap opera EastEnders.
She played the role from 1985 to 2020 and was nominated for the British Academy Television Award for Best Actress in 2009.

She wed actor John Garley in 1950, but he committed suicide out of despair in 1957. In 1958, Brown wed actor Robert Arnold; the couple had six children, one of whom passed away in infancy.
Arnold had been married to June and Robert for 45 years when he died in 2003 of Lewy-body dementia. She lived alone in Surrey thereafter, and her six children survived her.
