Meagan Martin, the top rock climber on American Ninja Warrior, is set to host the new show The Climb. It’s a new show created by Jason Mamoa of Aquaman and renowned rock climber Chris Sharma.
Meagan grew up doing gymnastics and pole vaulting, but climbing has always been her true passion. She decided to pursue climbing as a career after college. She will appear on HBO Max’s The Climb after seven seasons on shows such as American Ninja Warrior.

Meagan, who was homeschooled, began participating in gymnastics at the age of five. Her mother required her to read for an hour every day when she was in elementary school. Meagan began reading while climbing trees, which sparked her interest in the sport as she grew older. She recalls climbing objects at the gym while “goofing off” as a gymnast growing up.
Meagan began climbing at the Orlando Gym’s Aiguille Rock Climbing Center. Meagan joined the gym’s climbing team along with eight other kids. She also tried pole vaulting for the first time in her freshman year of high school.
She told her own story, saying she wasn’t interested in pole vaulting but did it because her mother said she should. Meagan went on to say that she enjoyed it and that climbing and gymnastics both helped her transition into pole vaulting.
She mentioned the following:
“Gymnastics provided me with the body awareness, speed, strength, and acrobatic abilities required to be a successful Pole Vaulter. “I believe that climbing kept me strong after I stopped gymnastics, so that I could devote more strength to Pole Vaulting.”
After graduating from college at the end of her junior year, Meagan realized she wanted to return to competition climbing and make it a career. Personal highlights for Meagan in 2020 included her fiancé proposing to her while they were rock climbing.
At the appropriately named Lover’s Leap, her then-boyfriend proposed to her. In an Instagram photo, she showed off her new ring while her hands were covered in climbing chalk. Meagan and her now-husband married after eloping in 2021. Here’s what Jason Mamoa had to say about Meagan Martin before she made her HBO debut:

Meagan Martin, the first rookie to complete a qualifying course and only the third woman to scale the warped wall, won American Ninja Warrior in 2014. She also made history at the National Finals that year by being the first girl to successfully complete Stage 1’s a leaping spider and halfpipe assault.
Meagan has competed in ANW every year since making history in the sport along the way. She has reached the national finals every year of her career and has hit three consecutive qualifying buzzers.
Throughout Season 10, Meagan was given numerous opportunities, including serving as the season’s official poster girl. Meagan Martin was hired as a coach on American Ninja Warrior Jr. after appearing on American Ninja Warrior for five seasons and Team Ninja Warrior for three.
Concerning HBO The Climb, Max’s new show, Jason Mamoa, the Aquaman actor, and Chris Sharma have collaborated to create a new competition series in which amateur climbers compete for a $100,000 grand prize and a prAna sponsorship. The Climb, an eight-part television series, will premiere on January 12, 2023.
