William Stephen Belichick, also known as Bill Belichick, was born on April 16, 1952, in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. Belichick participated in athletics while attending Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, where he played center and tight end on the football team. In addition to football, he played lacrosse and squash, eventually becoming captain of the lacrosse team in his senior year. Later, in 1975, Belichick began his coaching career as an assistant to Baltimore Colts head coach Ted Marchibroda, earning $25 per week.

In addition, Case Western Reserve University inducted Steve into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 1976 for his achievements in both sports.

Steve, a Croatian descendant, died on November 19, 2005, at the age of 86. Bill’s mother, Jeannette Ruth Munn, was born on October 23, 1921, in Newberry, Ohio. After graduating from Newberry High School, she attended Hiram College and studied language. Jeannette later met Steve Belichick while teaching English at Hiram College; they married in 1950. Unfortunately, Jeannette, Bill’s mother, died in 2020 at the age of 98. Bill founded the Bill Belichick Foundation to make multiple grants in his parents’ names.
