Deon Bush, the Kansas City Chiefs’ safety, had an outstanding year in 2023. He became a parent for the first time, and later that month, he won his first Super Bowl with Patrick Mahomes and company. Bush, a fourth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, spent the first six seasons with the Chicago Bears.
He joined the Chiefs as a free agent in 2022 and agreed to a one-year contract last year. Deon, the Chiefs’ safety, recently produced an outstanding performance in the second half of a game against the Baltimore Ravens. Chiefs’ Safety Deon Bush’s wife, Amina Smith, is a multiplatform studio presenter for NBC Sports Boston. She started working at NBC Sports Boston in March 2021. Smith was born on January 11, 1992, and is one year older than her football player husband. Amina started attending the University of South Carolina in 2010, but after two years decided to transfer to the University of Miami.
She graduated from journalism school in 2014 and is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. During her time in Miami, Amina did interviews with athletes and promoted events and programs on social media. She formerly worked as an intern for Fox News Channel.
Amina began working as a sideline reporter for Generation Nexxt, a Miami-based company, soon after graduation. At the same time, she worked as an Editorial Intern at Global Grind. That same year, Amina worked as a reporter/anchor for 6 News Lawrence, pitching stories for the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts.
Smith joined ESPN in late 2014 and served as a production stage manager for over two years. Deon Bush and Amina Smith, a football couple, began dating in Miami. Deon was a first-year student at the University of Miami when Amina attended. Bush was a standout defensive player at Miami during his four seasons there. Amina released her first photo with her spouse on March 16, 2014.
She captioned the shot “Church on Sunday,” and a few of her friends joked in the comments about when she started coming to church. After a few months, Deon was seen standing with Amina at her graduation ceremony, and Amina followed suit a year later. Amina uploaded a photo of Deon wearing Bears gear and embracing her after he was selected by the team in 2014.
She wrote, “Blessings on blessings.” Following four years of dating, Bush proposed to Amina on one knee during a trip to San Jose, Costa Rica. The couple was meant to marry on June 20, 2020, but the wedding was postponed due to the global pandemic. We couldn’t be happier about this new chapter in our lives. I cannot wait to meet you, sweet boy. Last January, the couple had a pregnancy photoshoot. In the shoot video, it is shown that they chose to name their child Deuce. A month later, Amina shared the first photo of their child.
Amina was unable to attend the University of Phoenix Stadium to see her husband’s first Super Bowl win. But perhaps Amina and Bush Jr. will support Deon in Las Vegas this year.
