On January 14, 2024, he made his Major main draw debut at the Australian Open, facing incumbent champion Novak Djokovic. Novak Djokovic, the world number one, struggled with Dino Prizmic, an 18-year-old juvenile qualifier.
The match lasted four hours and one minute, exceeding Novak’s previous record for the first round of a major event. This match beat Novak’s previous record of three hours and fifty-seven minutes against Gael Monfils in 2005.
