He is the third child of Mississippi native NFL quarterback Elisha Archibald “Archie” Manning III and Olivia (née Williams). His elder brothers, Peyton and Cooper, were both football players when they were younger. Manning played football and basketball for the Greenies while attending Isidore Newman School in New Orleans.
Eli Manning threw for 7,389 yards and 89 touchdowns in high school. On February 7, 1999, he decided to play collegiate football at the University of Mississippi. Manning arrived at Ole Miss in the shadow of his brother, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton, and his father, a folk hero at Ole Miss.
Manning set or tied 45 single-game, season, and career records while playing for the Rebels. His career stats include 10,119 passing yards, a passer rating of 137.7, and 81 touchdown passes, which places him third all-time in SEC history (tied for sixth on the SEC career list).

In 2007, he proposed to Abby McGrew of Nashville, Tennessee. Manning and McGrew have been dating since they were undergraduates at the University of Mississippi. Their corporate headquarters are located in Summit, New Jersey. Eli and Peyton Manning volunteered after Hurricane Katrina.
The Mannings assisted in the delivery of 30,000 pounds (14,000 kg) of goods to New Orleans residents, including water, Gatorade, infant formula, pumice, and pillows. In 2007, he launched a five-year fundraising effort to raise $2.5 million for the creation of “The Eli Manning Children’s Clinics” at Blair E. Batson Hospital. This is for the children of the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
“I am humbled by their efforts and proud to make this five-year commitment to assist in the development of this cutting-edge clinic that will benefit Mississippi families for years to come,” Manning said in 2007. His father, Archie Manning, has also contributed financially to the Katrina relief effort.
