Cris Collinsworth, a professional football player and broadcaster from the United States, married Holly Bankemper in 1989 after allegedly dating in college in the 1980s.
Cris and Holly attended different colleges in the 1970s to obtain their undergraduate degrees. Their shared love of American football, on the other hand, pulled them closer and eventually bonded them for life.
Cris was born to Abraham and Donetta in Dayton, Ohio. He began playing football at a young age thanks to his father. His father, Abe, was a prolific scorer in high school in Kentucky and eventually played NCAA football for the Kentucky Wildcats. After graduation, however, Abe gave up his athletic career and began working as an instructor.
Despite this, he continued to coach high school students, and his son, Cris, acquired his ability. Collinsworth continued his legal studies while playing football for the Florida Gators. He went on to play in the NFL for eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals until retiring in 1988.
Holly Bankemper, Cris Collinsworth’s Wife
Cris Collinsworth and his wife, Holly, met late in life, yet they feel fortunate to have each other. They married in 1989, have amazing chemistry, and have been together for over three decades. Holly and Cris’s families were from Kentucky, USA.
Cris, on the other hand, had never met Holly until they met in the late 1980s at the University of Cincinnati for their post-graduate law degree. Cris had already announced his retirement from professional football after playing for the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League at the time.
As a result, he became a well-known figure on campus. Their affair began when mutual acquaintances set them up on a date at Cris’ nightclub in Cincinnati. Holly finished her studies and began working as a lawyer in Cincinnati in 1988, while Cris continued his education at the University. Cris eventually proposed to Holly in 1988 at the MLB All-Star Game. A year later, on June 3rd, they married.
Cris and Holly Have Four Children
Cris Collinsworth and Holly Collinsworth’s marriage resulted in four children. When Cris graduated, the pair moved to Holly’s hometown of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, after a few years in Cincinnati. Holly Collinsworth gave birth to their first child, Katie Collinsworth, in 1990.
In 2012, she received a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Florida in Gainesville. She joined NBC Sports after college and worked for GolfNow, an NBC Sports subsidiary. Katie is a married woman with two children. Similarly, their second child, Austin, was born on December 24, 1991.
He went to Highlands High School before going on to play NCAA football at Notre Dame. Ashley, Cris, and Holly’s second child, was born in 1993 and went to Harvard. While studying Psychology, she was a member of the University’s track and field team.
Jac Collinsworth, their youngest son, is the most well-known of their children. He graduated from Notre Dame in 1995 and has been with NBC Sports since he was a student. Jac has been an announcer for NBC Sports since 2020, covering the USFL, Notre Dame Football, and other sports, as well as co-hosting Football Night in America.
