Rocky Lombardi was born on June 30, 1998, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In American football, he is the quarterback for the Northern Illinois Huskies. Lombardi attended Valley High School in Clive, Iowa, where he grew up. He was a three-star prospect during his high school years.

Tony, Rocky’s father, is a former football player turned coach. Tony E. Lombardi was born on January 29, 1962, in Park Forest, Illinois. He graduated from Rich East High School in Park Forest, Illinois, in 1980.

He was a tailback during his high school football career. From 1980 to 1983, Tony was a running back for the Arizona State Sun Devils. He was able to earn a varsity letter during his four years there. After being undrafted in the 1984 NFL Draft, Lombardi signed as a free agent with the Chicago Bears.

However, he did not make the team’s roster. It didn’t concern him, though, because he was swiftly elevated to this alma mater’s coaching position. Tony went on to have a prosperous three-decade coaching career. Tony had many highs and lows throughout his career, but he was able to encourage his children to become excellent sports.

Rocky’s mother is also no stranger to athletics and coaching. She had an excellent volleyball coaching career. Kari graduated from Lakeville High School before enrolling at Minnesota State University, Mankato. His mother and father formerly coached football and volleyball at Washington High School.

His Grandfather Bob Lombardi Was Also a Coach

Bob Lombardi, Rocky’s grandfather, was a well-known football coach. People refer to him as having established a football legacy in his family lines. Bob died on May 28, 2021, following his birth on June 3, 1938. He was the head football coach at the University of Chicago from 1976 to 1978.

He met Melinda at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, when he was a football coach and she was the sports director’s daughter. This could have facilitated his speedy rise in the football world. In 1961, he began his coaching career as an assistant football coach at Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

At the school, Bob also taught economics and math. He was elevated to head football coach at Homewood-Flossmoor in 1967. In 1976, Lombardi took over as head football coach at the University of Chicago, succeeding his father-in-law. He was also named associate professor in the Department of Physical Education at the university.
