The basketball player was a 2018 McDonald’s High School All-American. Austin joined the University of Maryland after high school. She was named All-Big Ten Freshman in 2018-19 after making an impact at Maryland. She broke the school record with 89 blocks.
Shakira was named All-Big Ten Second Team in her second and last season at Maryland in 2019-20. Austin transferred to Ole Miss after her second year. Austin won Mississippi’s top female basketball player, the Gillom Trophy, in 2021.
