Shaun White is a San Diego, California-based former snowboarder and skateboarder. There, his parents, Cathy and Roger, gave birth to him.
Shaun comes from a family of three brothers and sisters, the youngest of whom he is. His mother, Cathy, worked as a waitress, while his father, who had a surfing background, worked at the San Clemente Water Department in California. Jesse White, Shaun’s elder brother and seven years his senior, played a vital role in his life by teaching him how to snowboard.
Shaun White began snowboarding at the age of six, inspired by his elder brother Jesse White’s journey. He had his first sponsorship when he was seven years old. White competed in five Winter Olympics during his career, winning three Olympic gold medals in the snowboard halfpipe event in 2006, 2010, and 2018.
He holds the world record for the most X Games gold medals and the most Olympic gold medals among snowboarders, and his fame is well-deserved. Furthermore, he has garnered ten ESPY Awards in various categories, showcasing his talent and perseverance.

Shaun White was born on September 3, 1986, in San Diego, California, to Roger and Cathy White. White grew up with two older siblings, Jesse and Kari, both of whom used to snowboard as kids. White parents initially opposed Shan’s plan to pursue a snowboarding career, but they have since become Shaun’s most ardent supporters.
According to The New York Times, Shaun White’s father, Roger White, used to work for the San Clemente water department. He grew up in Coronado, California, and used to surf at Imperial Beach and Del Mar. After graduating from Coronado High School and attending Monterey Peninsula College, he spent a lot of time surfing in Santa Cruz, California.
Roger had hoped that Shaun would follow in his footsteps and become a surfer, but Shaun chose his route and went on to have a successful career doing what he enjoyed. Snowboarding was frowned upon by White’s mother, Cathy White. Shaun began skiing and snowboarding at a young age, following in the footsteps of his brother. His mother, Cathy, was opposed to the Sports because she was scared that Shaun would get seriously injured.
Furthermore, Shaun was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital cardiac ailment that necessitated two open-heart surgeries before the age of one. Because of his health issues, Cathy was concerned about his desire to pursue snowboarding as a career. She did, however, eventually embrace his goal and support his course. She’s now his biggest fan, always rooting for him and offering her unwavering support.
His Brother Jesse Is the First One Who Taught Him How to Skateboard
Shaun White’s brother, Jesse White, was the one who originally introduced him to skateboarding. Shaun followed in his older brother’s footsteps and excelled as a snowboarder. Despite his boyhood passion for snowboarding, Jesse is now the creative director of Whitespace by Shaun White. The talented young man is now married with two sons. He married Dominique Alexandra White on October 13, 2018.
